Water Well

Water Well

Families across Guatemala faced an urgent need. Dirty water was making children sick, and tragically, thousands died every year. More than 98% of their water sources were contaminated with refuse, including human and animal waste. The resulting worms, parasites, and bacteria were spreading devastating diseases such as malaria, typhoid, and cholera. Diarrhea alone caused both malnutrition and severe dehydration, and in critical cases, could claim a child's life within days. We believed then, as we do now, that access to clean water is a fundamental and practical necessity for everyone. Providing clean, disease-free water was, and remains, critical to saving lives and fostering healthy communities.
