We could not do what we do without our passionate team. Our employees have a real heart for the community which comes from the fact that they are actually from the surrounding communities.
Did you know that all the members of our team live in no better conditions than the people that they serve? The difference is the hope they have in Jesus. This hope has given them the passion to be the difference, to make a difference, in the lives of other people.
We financially support this team on an ongoing basis. Right now, we employ Edwin (team leader) full time, along with a kitchen staff of three, and local day laborers for any construction needs.
It’s a proven fact that people are more receptive to hearing the Gospel once their immediate physical needs are met. So, when you offer someone food, clean water, or clothes, you not only provide the basic necessities needed to survive today… you also give them the opportunity to receive eternal hope by introducing them to the love of Jesus Christ.
We opened our Community Kitchen on July 28th, 2021 and are committed to offering the community food 3 days a week. Our Community Kitchen has become a gathering place for the community and it is our heart to make it feel like "home.” There are several construction projects left to do on site that can only be completed with your support.
Our current goal is to raise $5,000 to create a patio area. This would not only give people a space to enjoy eating at a table (a rarity) but also to enjoy each other’s company and fellowship with our team.
Families across Guatemala face an urgent need. Dirty water is making children sick and thousands of them are dying every year. More than 98% of their water sources are contaminated with refuse, including human and animal waste. The resulting worms, parasites, and bacteria are spreading diseases such as malaria, typhoid, and cholera. Diarrhea alone causes both malnutrition and dehydration. If it is a severe case, it can kill a child within days.
Providing clean, disease-free water is critical to saving lives.
When a community no longer has the worry of when they will eat next, because of the consistent provision of nutritious foods, community resiliency is developed. Footsteps of Hope is setting up children and families for success in school, work, and in life by providing fresh fruits and vegetables, eggs, dairy, whole grains, and proteins for communities in need.
Our shoe outreach is how Footsteps of Hope began. We have had the honor of connecting with around 3,600 people, across 13 villages, where we have donated 2,521 pairs of shoes and witnessed 179 people give their lives to Jesus. We continue to provide shoes to the village we serve and fulfill any additional requests.
